Caring for your TheaterLift cabinet
Yes, it's all real wood.
Your Touchstone TheaterLift cabinet is made of real wood, not particle board. The wood, veneers and finishes have the character of real wood, including natural markings and color. This gives each cabinet its own character. Using real wood can also subject your cabinet to changes in humidity, where dry air may cause the wood loose moisture. This can affect the way a cabinet door may line up if used in extreme dry humidity.
Drawers & Doors
Humid weather may cause real wood furniture to absorb extra moisture, causing a door or drawers to be difficult to open or close. Your cabinet is high quality, but sticking may occur during periods of high humidity. When the air returns to normal, this sticking will resolve itself.
The Effects of Light on Wood
Long term exposure of your wood cabinet may cause damage, including fading. Please avoid leaving your wood cabinet or other wood furniture in direct sunlight, and use window treatments or glass filters to protect the cabinet from the sun’s rays.
Caring for your Cabinet
- Dusting your cabinet removes particles that can damage the surface. Dust with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. Do not dust with paper towels, sponges or dish cloths. Dampen your cloth before dusting to reduce scratches and static, which will attract more dust. Don’t leave any moisture on the cabinet surface.
- Furniture cleaner or polish should be used every three months, or as needed. Always test a small area first to make sure the finish will not be damaged by your polish or cleaner.
- Always wipe with the grain of the wood.
- Avoid rubbing to hard, as it can cause uneven shine.
- Avoid polishes or cleaners with silicone, as it can soften your finish.
- Do not use wax on your cabinet. The finish on the cabinet will not benefit from wax and it will just build up on the surface, making it hazy.
